Public Markets Benefit Communities

Public Markets are known to create myriad benefits for their community.

In 2002, Project for Public Spaces, with support from the Ford Foundation, researched the impacts markets have on their communities. The results fall into six primary categories:

  • Economic Opportunity
  • Link Urban and Rural Economics
  • Promote Public Health
  • Renew Downtowns & Neighborhoods
  • Create Active Public Space
  • Bring Together Diverse People

The Colorado Springs Public Market Project seeks to address each of these areas. That is why we are focused on creating a place that supports our local producers through food and food services, arts and culture exhibits, entertainment and education, as well as health and wellness.
