“I spent the next couple of weeks trying to find the center of town and find where life happened. Eventually, I realized that Cedar Rapids is a wonderful community, but that it was missing a central congregating spot, the place someone like me could go to meet people and find camaraderie.”
The Downtown Public Market Task Force began as a collaboration between Ranch Foods Direct Owner, Mike Callicrate and the Green Cities Coalition which rapidly expanded to other groups and individuals excited by this wonderful opportunity.
The Colorado Springs Public Market Task Force consists of leaders and experts across the for-profit, non-profit, civic and academic sectors. Together we have outlined a vision that we believe will significantly benefit our citizens, increase community and grow our economic and social arenas while creating a sustainable society.
The purpose of the Downtown Public Market Task Force is to: ENCOURAGE community enthusiasm for the Market, CONVENE stakeholders from government, business and the sustainability community to ADVANCE a strategic plan for the Market, and MARSHAL community resources to IMPLEMENT the plan and ESTABLISH the Market.
